Esalen® Massage Introductory Courses

An invitation to experience touch as listening

Esalen® Massageintroductory courses are an invitation to slow down and experience touch as a form of deep listening.

Rather than focusing on techniques alone, we explore presence, awareness, and connection through the body. Touch becomes a dialogue. Movement becomes responsive. Giving and receiving are equally important parts of the learning.

Each course offers a grounded, experiential introduction to the quality and principles of Esalen® Massage, held in a supportive and relational learning space.

Multiple course dates are offered throughout the year. You will find the upcoming courses listed below.

When we deliver, it’s not just a finished product—it’s a solution you can trust, backed by real care and effort.

Step 3

Who these courses are for

These introductory courses are open to everyone.

They are well suited for people who are curious about Esalen® Massage and awareness-based touch, as well as for massage therapists, bodyworkers, yoga teachers, and movement practitioners.

They are also welcoming to beginners with no prior massage experience, to people who want to explore touch in a personal or relational context, and to anyone interested in slowing down, sensing more clearly, and working with presence.

Some participants come for professional inspiration.

Others come simply to learn how to touch and be touched with more awareness.

What you will experience

Each weekend is experiential and embodied, with time to practice, integrate, and reflect.

We explore foundational principles of Esalen® Massage, awareness-based touch and movement, working with breath, rhythm, and gravity, and simple grounding or movement practices.

Moments of stillness, rest, and guided attention are woven naturally into the learning. Awareness-based inquiry may be introduced gently through experience rather than explanation.

Everything is offered in an accessible way. You do not need prior knowledge of these practices. Learning happens through direct experience.

A weekend that can stand on its own

For many participants, an introductory course is a complete experience in itself. It offers a weekend of learning, exploration, and connection.

For others, it is a way to sense whether the 100-hour Professional Esalen® Massage Training feels like a natural next step.

Both approaches are equally welcome.

How I teach

My teaching is grounded in presence, clarity, and respect for individual learning rhythms.

I create spaces that are structured yet spacious, where curiosity is encouraged and comparison is unnecessary. The emphasis is on sensing rather than performing, and on listening rather than doing more.

You are invited to learn at your own pace and in your own way.
