Deep Bodywork® IV
Neck, Chest & Breath
Current & Upcoming Offerings
China
The Deep Bodywork® program is offered in collaboration with Jingni Wang.
New workshop dates are currently in planning.
About This Workshop
The neck and chest form an important bridge between the head, spine, shoulders, and breath. Ease and mobility in this region influence not only posture and movement, but also the quality of breathing and the body’s ability to organize itself with greater balance and efficiency.
In this workshop, you’ll explore the functional anatomy of the neck, chest, and anterior upper body while developing practical approaches for working with the diaphragm, sternum, ribs, pectoral region, and the connective tissues that support unrestricted breathing and movement. As breathing becomes freer, the entire upper body often responds with greater mobility, ease, and integration.
Through demonstrations, guided practice, and partner exchanges, you’ll continue refining your ability to distinguish tissue layers, adapt your touch to different qualities of resistance, and create depth through gravity, efficient body mechanics, and responsive touch rather than force.
What you’ll explore
Throughout the workshop, you’ll integrate anatomical understanding with practical hands-on skills while continuing to refine your perception and precision.
You’ll explore:
Functional anatomy of the neck, chest, and anterior upper body
The diaphragm and its relationship to posture and breathing
The sternum, ribs, and intercostal tissues
The pectoral region and its relationship to the shoulder girdle
Fascial continuity between the neck, chest, shoulders, and upper back
Practical approaches for supporting freer breathing and greater mobility
Layer-by-layer tissue differentiation through slow, responsive touch
Integrating movement into Deep Bodywork®
Working efficiently through gravity and sustainable body mechanics
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is designed for experienced massage therapists, bodyworkers, and manual practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of the shoulder complex through the official Deep Bodywork® approach.
Previous professional training in massage or bodywork is required. Participants should already feel comfortable working hands-on and be interested in refining both their anatomical understanding and the quality of their touch.
What you’ll take with you
You’ll leave the workshop with practical skills for working with the neck, chest, diaphragm, and surrounding structures, together with a deeper understanding of how breathing, posture, and structural organization influence one another.
Beyond specific techniques, you’ll continue developing the qualities that define Deep Bodywork®: precise anatomical orientation, responsive touch, efficient body mechanics, and the ability to perceive subtle relationships between different layers of tissue. You’ll gain new ways of supporting ease in the breath while helping clients experience greater openness, mobility, and integration throughout the upper body.

Continue Your Learning
Deep Bodywork® IV is one of five workshops within the official Deep Bodywork® learning pathway.
Each workshop explores a different region and aspect of the body while deepening the same principles of anatomical precision, responsive touch, and embodied presence. Together, the five workshops build a comprehensive understanding of the Deep Bodywork® approach, with each course complementing and enriching the others.
